Dredd!

Drew this after watching the excellent Dredd movie again. Really hope it gets a sequel!

This is the one I played around with a zipatone effect. Trying to get the feel of the 80's printed look, I remember reading.

Here is the flat coloured version. A little more colourful.

Wonder Woman

Was talking to my great friend Jordie Bellaire on Saturday night all about wonder woman - so I felt I should post this sketch for last December.

Crazy commission!

Got commissioned at christmas to draw a friend's aunt as the incredible hulk. Probably one of my weirder commissions. 

Based the drawing on the Avengers movie Hulk. The reason I'm posting the drawing is because of the way I coloured it. Think I'm gonna try to do this a little more.

Had a debate with my good friends Fran and Tom the other night. About favourite super-heroes... I really do think as an artist, most of us literally illustrate our love through our art. Your favourite character is often the one you draw the most. And with that in mind. I drew this today.

Spidey 2099!

Quick scribble in work of Spider-man 2099. Was gonna try and do a re-design of the costume. Never really cared for the design of the skull on his chest, but for some reason, when drawing this, it made sense!

Quick scribble I did while doing a workprint today. I hated the recent film, and the new version in the comics is pretty crap too, so I've been watching alot of Bruce Timm's version to make me feel better.

Think I'm gonna clean this up in flash properly next week.

Quick post it drawing. Did this last week while scribbling for the Irish sketchers thing on facebook. Will work on the colours, but I had a crazy night last night.... so I'm wrecked now.

Half past danger!!!

So Stephen Mooney's Half Past Danger is finally out tomorrow!!! I've been working on a proper pic for it, but good old work happened tonight and we're all celebrating tomorrow night! So just incase, I just scribbled this real quick.

Can't wait for the book - it's gonna be excellent!

Irish Sketch Post

Here we go again. This is my submission for this weeks theme for the Irish sketch society. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"

Originally drawn during a production meeting, Mikey isn't my favourite, but the nunchucks are class to draw.

Wanted the pic to have that "splash card" feel from cartoons. Pretty happy with it in the end.

Another hectic week

Another hectic week leads to only 2 posts... with that in mind next week will be a post a day. Determined now.

So here's another quick scarlet spider sketch. Here you can see a little idea I thought would be cool. Instead of the hoodie, maybe he would wear a blue flak jacket. Might post more of those scribbles, but the idea was muted when they redesigned Venom, and my good friend Dec nailed it in his run on the book.

Quick post-it scribble. Think the first version I did had more "gesture" in it. Will probably redraw that version later, but right now I'm shattered.

Some bad news last night. So. With that in mind I wanted to finish something that would cheer me up. Trying that faux 3d thing using the widescreen bars... might do more of this.

Thinking of making Wednesdays a superhero themed day too... not sure thou, 3 themed days in a row might be tough. Thank god all I do is draw girls and superheroes!
