So here's an attempt at Louise Skinnader, not entirely sure I got it right yet. But I wanted to post something tonight, and not slip into "no posting for ages" again.

Claire Lennon!

In order to get things back on track, I decided a "done in one" could be a great exercise. So, I decided to draw Claire Lennon!

So I finally get round to posting this one - the talented Mr. Tom Galvin!

This was a very tough one, Tom is incredible at caricatures and as I will show it took a journey to get there.

The Process

 Some very early attempts. YIKES

 The first drawing breaking down shape and features.

 Was trying to create the pic using a definite shape... like the beard stuff in these.

The final 3 drawings. The first is the one where I think I nailed it, the middle and last lose alot of the energy and character, I think.

I'm posting this for a second reason tonight too. As a thank you for Tom's help over the last 2 months. Tom very brilliantly sent some notes and helped me with some stuff to do with my new job.

First post of 2014 - Franners!

So at Christmas just gone, the awesome Aine McGuinness organized an art swap for a bunch of people. I got one of my best friends, Fran Johnston!!!

So I decided to do a drawing of Fran himself, in a style I thought he would like. (Aine's :P)

I was pretty happy with how this turned out. It's mainly cobalt blue ink, tried to keep it nice and christmassy.

So I did tonnes of drawings to get this right, but I'm only gonna post a selection of previous Fran drawings.

What drives me mad is that Paul also draws caricatures and I can't seem to nail a final version of him.

Gill!!!

Gill!

 So... I've finally gotten round to posting this one!

Gillian Comerford!!!

Gill is one of my best friends in Boulder. 

And this is probably gonna be my biggest "monday mate" post. I've drawn a lot of "Gills". Back in 2007 we did a team building exercise in work where we were to make a "top trumps" card of a person in work. I got Gill in the draw. Think the final drawing, the one above, is probably one of my best!
